The American HBO television series The Wire ran for six seasons between the years 2000 and 2006. The episodes have been used by educators around the world as a source for education about contemporary American values, race relations, crime, and the failure of institutions. The show is set in urban Baltimore. Do you agree that modern media should be used as a tool to encourage discussion and teach critical-thinking skills about the problems that occur in contemporary culture? What lessons can you learn from watching The Wire?
