Salaries and Wages: Direct Financial Compensation

Hello Dr. Langevin and Classmates,

As HR professionals strive to establish competitive pay rates
so an organization can attract and retain the right talent, they
compare their compensation rates to the rates in published surveys to
gauge their competitiveness. However, many nuances complicate the
process. For example, when you’re hiring the head of software
development, the competition for talent might be a different set of
companies than when you’re hiring an administrative assistant.

In my organization (CCMEP) must be very careful that what the executive
salaries get paid are not at the expensive of lower-level employees.
Therefore all public and nonprofit employers must comply with Federal
Laws: The Fair Standards act, The Equal Pay Act, for instance, all
employees should be paid fair wages. The down fall for my organization
has been paying a low salary which has increase high turn-around.
Employees leave for the competitive company that pays more and agencies
have to recruit and train new employees incurring significant costs
(Pynes, 2013).
