• Many people believe that Milton Friedman advocated profit at any cost, without regard for ethics or morality. Based on your reading of “The Social Responsibility of Business is to Increase its Profits,” do you agree with that view? Why or why not? Support your arguments using material from the article and from any other relevant sources you find.
• Capitalism is typically associated with market competition. Given that, how does David Boaz argue that capitalism actually promotes cooperation? Are competition and cooperation compatible? If so, how? If not, why not?
• In Tom Palmer’s article, what is “the myth of greed” and where did it come from? Do you agree with Palmer’s views?
• What is the role of ethics and morality in a capitalist economic system? Does capitalism require, or merely tolerate ethical behavior? Does capitalism discourage ethical behavior? Make sure to offer support for any conclusions you draw.
