Task 6 (half page long)

Complete Parts 10 (determine the cost and feasibility of the strategic plan to solve the problem).

One of ways to think about cost feasibility is to answer the following question: is the problem worth solving at a reasonable cost? To answer this question you have to explore four different aspects of feasibility, such as technical, economic, operational, and organisational. Technical feasibility investigates where it is possible to solve the problem with existing technology. For instance, does the clinic there you are going to treat patients with TB has reliable internet needed to access lab results. Economic feasibility compares cost of solving problem verse of benefit of solving problem. If cost is excessive the benefits are not obtainable. Operational feasibility investigates if the program implementation is compatible with the environment. Lastly, organizational feasibility relies to the strategic plan of the organization. If the proposed project is not in alignment with t the long-term goals of the organization , then, is not point in moving forward with funding and implementation of the project.

Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) evaluates available resources to maximise population health gain and typically concerned with value of health improvements at the margin. Those analyses help to introduce an intervention or program to improve population health. Also, CEA determine factors that affect expected costs and health outcomes and treatment decision. Cost-effectiveness analyses consider patients with the disease of interest and calculate cost and DALYs lost for average patient with specified characteristics, and include that used in defining inequality, for example, cost-effective strategy for the management of a patient with uncomplicated fever (suspected malaria) in countries of Africa where malaria is endemic. We can assumption that diagnostic tests and treatment of mild malaria resulted in no real trade-offs. Another good example is MDRTB which continue to increase in developing counties despite many of those counties implemented DOTS program. The reason is our expectations on the assumption that certain past, present and future acts are sufficiently alike to be grouped in the same category, these experiences are in fact different. In addition, it is very important to determine relative value of improved equality verse increase in overall health and to avoid recommending trade-offs where alternative use of resources could have provided better value for money.
