Heading RECOMMENDATIONS FOR WALMART COMPANY Name: Najee Alim Frazier Institution: Course Title: Instructor: Date: December 13, 2022 Introduction Due to the increased competition that Walmart is currently facing, it is necessary to come up with new solutions to address its weaknesses. There are also threats that should be addressed to improve its future performance. This research paper aims to provide appropriate recommendations that Walmart can adopt to improve its current operations and profits. The recommendations focus on: leadership, strategy, customer, workforce, and operations. Leadership The company should adopt a transformational leadership style that focuses on transforming the employees professionally and personally to align them with the company’s goals and objectives. The strategy will address the company’s current situation where its customers are not contented with the working conditions, which leads to the development of a negative working culture (O’Reilly & Chatman, 2020). Transformational leadership will also address the current problem of gender discrimination since the leader focuses on creating a conducive working environment for all employees. 360-degree leadership analysis method should also be used to analyze and improve the performance of people holding leadership positions in the institution (Olusadum & Leo, 2021). Strategy Walmart should adopt a strategic plan to solve the problem of over-relying only on the US market. The following are the phases that should apply to expand to other regions worldwide. The 4 phase strategic plan can also be applied to achieving the company’s various objectives, including introducing a new product to the market (Hunger, 2020). Formulating a plan: this is the first phase where Walmart will determine its target market. It also includes ways of acquiring the intended market. An example is using the acquisition method to capture the South Korean market. Implementation of strategy: This involves assigning employees roles and responsibilities in which they should participate during the expansion process. Other resources are also organized during this phase. Evaluating the results: Using customers’ feedback and the sales made, Walmart can analyze its performance in the new market. Modification: the company can make the necessary changes to achieve the intended goal. Customer The company faces a problem of competition from small-scale companies and also product imitation. The most appropriate way of solving this problem is to find ways of reducing its operations costs to lower the price of products. Due to the increased use of Artificial Intelligence which has led to automation, Walmart can increase the quality of services offered by ensuring that customers are served quickly. This will increase its market despite increased competition from small-scale online retailers. Workforce The leaders should create an opportunity for their employees to share their experiences on achieving some of their objectives. This will address the problem of low-profit margins since experienced employees will contribute to effective ways of increasing profits. They will also be intrinsically motivated to achieve the goal since they were directly involved in creating it. Operations Walmart needs to improve its operations, especially regarding business functions and operations, which will increase its profits. The operations should aim towards developing a disaster recovery plan that will be used to address unexpected problems such as pandemics. Many companies have not been able to recover from the pandemic. The company will have enough resources to hold progressive operations by setting up a disaster recovery plan.
