Your
\nPortfolio Project provides an opportunity to evaluate a real-world ethical
\ndilemma from the perspective of the healthcare\/hospital administrator. You will
\nuse your skills and knowledge of ethics and health law as well as role playing
\nto create a postmortem<\/i> evaluation plan for prevention of future
\nsituations to present to your Senior Leadership team and the Board of Governors.
\nA postmortem<\/i> analysis is performed after the fact to evaluate the
\nsituation and identify a plan for prevention of future incidents.<\/p>\n
Choose
\none of the cases on end-of-life on pages 294-298 in Contemporary Issues in
\nHealthcare Law and Ethics.<\/i><\/p>\n
Write a 12-15 page report evaluating this case
\nand providing recommendations of this case. Your report should address the
\nfollowing substantive requirements:<\/p>\n
\u00b7Description of what occurred, who was affected, and rationale <\/p>\n
\u00b7Assessment of the case from the following perspectives:<\/p>\n
\u00b7Ethical \u2013 describe the ethical principles involved and
\nexpectations for all involved. <\/p>\n
\u00b7Legal \u2013 define and argue the legal implications for each party.
\nExplain health laws involved and the influence of the legal environment at the
\ntime of this case. <\/p>\n
\u00b7Regulatory compliance \u2013 examine regulatory standards and
\ncompliance involved.<\/p>\n
\u00b7Health reform \u2013 illustrate how this case and your role as
\nadministrator are different now due to changes in health law and expectations
\nfrom health reform.<\/p>\n
\u00b7Recommendations \u2013 argue at least three recommendations for the
\ncurrent and future prevention of this type of situation in your facility.<\/p>\n
\u00b7Action plan for prevention \u2013 create an action plan for
\nprevention explaining how you would implement these recommendations.<\/p>\n
Your report should meet the following
