As you study criminal justice, it is imperative to examine the
\nvarious responses to crime through history. Traditionally, responses
\nwere focused on current issues without connecting the historical
\nrelationship between groups, institutions, cultures, and governmental
\nideologies. Understanding the historical context of contemporary
\ncriminal justice responses is critical.<\/p>\n
For this Discussion, you compare ancient governmental responses
\naround the world to crime with contemporary responses to crime. Select a
\nspecific crime, and using the Learning Resources, research ancient (of
\nyour choice; see your Learning Resources for context) and contemporary
\nresponses to that crime. Analyze the commonalities and differences
\nbetween the responses, and evaluate whether or not the responses are
\neffective.<\/p>\n
