This week we will define biblical interpretation and introduce the
\nbasic features of a biblical hermeneutic and process. I suggest you
\nstart your course reading as soon as possible. The assignment will
\nhelp you understand the various features of the interpretive process
\nthrough a helpful diagram.<\/p>\n
The syllabus recently had a few changes and this assignment is one
\nthat needs some clarification. Please follow these steps:<\/p>\n
1) Download \u201cIsaiah 6 Example for Module 1 Assignment\u201d
\nin the Resources>Add-Ons folder.<\/p>\n
2) On a separate document fill in the various aspects of this chart
\nfor one<\/u> of the
\nfollowing chapters:<\/p>\n
a. Deuteronomy 28<\/p>\n
b. Hebrews 10<\/p>\n
c. James 4<\/p>\n
3) Reproduce the chart you downloaded and, in your own words, label
\nand explain each box\/step.<\/p>\n
4) Select the passage you analyzed (Deut 28, Heb 10, or James 4) and
\nwrite a 500-750 word paper covering these questions:<\/p>\n
a. Describe the speaker and the message. How was the message presented?<\/p>\n
b. Provide a thorough exegesis on the passage. We will cover this
\nprocess through the class, but in other words, carefully go through
\nthe meaning of the passage. Draw out the meaning of the text and how
\nit is applicable today.<\/p>\n
c. Explain the nature and role of the interpreter in the exegetical process.<\/p>\n
5) Complete the assignment per APA guidelines.<\/p>\n
