Museum Report Assignment Sheet \u2013 Humanities 3<\/p>\n

The museum report should be 2 pages (this means to the bottom of the
\nsecond page not the top of the second page) in 12 point font with 1″
\nmargins on all sides. You are to go to a museum and view art from the
\nBaroque, Rococo, Eighteenth Century, Romantic, Impressionist and
\nPost-Impressionist periods. Three Los Angeles area museums have
\npermanent collections including art from these periods \u2013 Los Angeles
\nCounty Museum of Art (LACMA – http:\/\/www.lacma.org\/), the Getty (http:\/\/www.getty.edu\/visit\/),
\nand the Norton Simon in Pasadena (http:\/\/www.nortonsimon.org\/). If you
\ncannot go in person, you may complete the report by looking at art on
\ntheir website.<\/p>\n

When writing the summary of the museum exhibit, please choose one of the topics below:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Compare three pieces of art from the Baroque and Rococo. Include the
    \ntitle, artist media, and any pertinent information provided by the
    \nmuseum regarding this artwork. In your comparison, you should include an
    \nanalysis of the various time periods and how the art changed over time.
    \nAlso note whether secular (non-religious) subjects are treated
    \ndifferently than religious subjects. Note artistic skill and
    \ncompositional elements as well.<\/li>\n
  2. Compare three pieces of art from the Neo-Classical, Romantic, and
    \nRealist periods. Include the title, artist, media, and any pertinent
    \ninformation provided by the museum regarding this artwork. In your
    \ncomparison, you should include an analysis of the various time periods
    \nand how the art changed over time. Also note how mythological subjects
    \nare treated differently than real subjects. Note artistic skill and
    \ncompositional elements as well.<\/li>\n
  3. Compare four pieces of art from the Impressionist and
    \nPost-Impressionist periods. \u2013 Two from each period. Include the title,
    \nartist, media, and any pertinent information provided by the museum
    \nregarding this artwork. In your comparison, you should include an
    \nanalysis of how Impressionist art differences from the
    \nPost-Impressionist art. You should compare the pairs of artworks (One
    \nImpressionist and One Post-Impressionist) that cover similar themes, for
    \nexample, city-scene, pastoral scene, people, etc. Also note whether
    \nthese subjects are treated differently from one another. Note artistic
    \nskill and compositional elements as well in the two pairs of
    \ncomparisons.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
