Next, go to the US House of Representatives Home Page at http:\/\/thomas.loc.gov<\/a> <\/i>OR the US Senate Home Page at <\/i><\/a>www.senate.gov<\/a><\/i>. <\/i>Select one of the standing committees, special\/select committees, or subcommittees and click on the link.<\/p>\n

Click on Committees on the top menu bar<\/li>\n
Select any one of the committees listed in either the House or Senate.<\/li>\n
Click on the
\nwebsite of the committee you chose. (each committee should have a
\nwebsite that you can go to, if not please choose one that does)<\/li>\n
Once you are on
\nthe website click on either the \u201csubcommittee\u201d or \u201cfull committee\u201d tab
\nwhich will list all of the committee\u2019s members.<\/li>\n
Then fill in the following in complete sentences.<\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
1. Committee Name – what is the name of the committee you’ve chosen?<\/p>\n
2. Who is the CHAIR of the committee? Briefly describe why you think this person was selected as the chairperson. <\/p>\n

1. If a committee \u201cfavors\u201d a bill, what are the four actions<\/strong> the committee takes before sending the bill to the full Senate? See \u201cAbout the Senate Committee System\u201d at http:\/\/www.senate.gov\/general\/common\/generic\/about_committees.htm<\/a><\/p>\n
2. What was the most interesting or surprising thing you learned from the committee information? <\/p>\n

Next, click on \u201cFrequently Asked Questions About
\nCommittees.\u201d (Committee FAQ located under Related Links) Select five
\nquestions that you do not know the answer to, or that you would like to
\nlearn more about. Write down your questions and then report what you
\nlearned about them in the FAQ here:\/\/\/ Part Four<\/strong><\/u>
\nClick on some of the links in \u201cNews\u201d and \u201cKey Issues\u201d
\non your chosen committee’s website. These may be under headings worded
\ndifferently, like newsroom, updates, etc. Identify and explain the
\nvariety of issues the committee examines. Choose at least two issues and
\nwrite at least 500 words in your explanation of both issues. You do not
\nneed to write at least 500 words for each issue, but for the two issues
