Chemical Information:

Your project will be completed on: Liquid Scale Dissolver manufactured by Nu-Calgon. This is the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The product can be found on the company website at https://www.nucalgon.com/products/water-treatment/scale-removal/liquid-scale-dissolver/ (Links to an external site.). You may also look up information about the chemicalusing the resources found in 12.1 Unit Resources (Read).

Your information sheet must include:

  1. Chemical name
  2. Manufacturer
  3. Physical properties (liquid, solid, gas)
  4. Ingredients of chemical with percentages (range or amount)
  5. Expected use of chemical
  6. Route of exposures
  7. Organ systems affected
  8. Symptoms of exposure
  9. Is the chemical persistent and/or does it bioaccumulate?
  10. Is the chemical a carcinogen or suspected carcinogen?
  11. List the OSHA PEL and Ceiling for each ingredient.
  12. List the NIOSH REL, STEL, and/or ceiling for each ingredient.
  13. Detail the Medical Monitoring Requirements (further reference the NIOSH Pocket Guide for information)

Format:

You may choose the format for your information sheet but must be completed using word, excel, powerpoint, or if using a different software, submitted as a pdf. An example of a New Jersey Hazardous Substance Fact Sheet can be used for ideas on how to organize and present information.
