Overview

For your final project choose one specific cultural group that intrigues you. Pretend you are a cultural anthropologist conducting fieldwork among that group. Be specific (for example, the Yanomamo of Venezuela or the Chinook of the Pacific Northwest). Contact the instructor prior to beginning the project for approval of your topic and cultural group.

Discuss your group in terms of specific vocabulary and concepts from the course. For example, go beyond just listing what language they speak and discuss specific linguistic features. Demonstrate how cultural traits are interrelated to one another, and discuss how specific cultural features might help or hinder the fieldwork process.

Directions

Follow the steps below to complete this assignment. Refer to the Writing Assignment Rubric for grading details. In addition to the grading rubric please adhere to the following criteria:

• Simply copying a society or discussing topics addressed in your book will not demonstrate an understanding of course material. Make sure to use vocabulary and discussion about course concepts to describe specific cultural aspects.
• Cultural aspects are interrelated, and should be discussed as such. Simply listing cultural characteristics will not demonstrate understanding of course material.
• You should use course materials as sources for the project, however you should also use between 3-5 external scholarly sources. The HRAF is a great tool. There are a multitude of ethnographies that are also quite engaging pieces of literature. Ask the instructor for help if you are unsure where to start.

1. Create a document using a word processing program (e. g. Microsoft Word) with the following formatting guidelines:
   • 12-point, Times New Roman font
   • 1-inch margins
   • Minimum of 1200 words
   • Cite sources and use a bibliograhpy using a specific style guide (MLA, APA, AAA for example)
2. Save the document as yourname_FinalProject.
3. Compose a response.
4. Submit your completed document by following the steps below:
   • Click the assignment title above.
   • Click Browse My Computer.
   • Select your file.
   • Click Open.
   • Click the Submit button in the bottom right corner.

Since I already submitted the topic if the final project, we have to work on that topic which is the Uyghur culture of west China. Here is the resources that I have already found:
